Happy World Fitness Day! It’s time to get up and get fit. Need some inspiration? Here are Paperclip & Co’s favourite workout methods.
No other exercise is as enduring as yoga. It has been around for almost 5,000 years and has the special trait of combining strength and stretching with relaxation and meditation. Yoga targets your core, arms, legs, glutes and back without any strain. Our social media director, Diya tells us a little bit about why yoga is her go-to work out – ‘’ Yoga helps me de-stress and relax my body and mind. It challenges me as it requires mental and physical strength too. It’s made me overcome my fears, not only on my yoga mat but in all aspects of life and has given me confidence I never thought I’d have”. Other than being a huge confidence booster, yoga is a great activity to combat health issues including high blood pressure, cholesterol and heart disease. So, if you are in search for a workout that eases your body and soul, yoga is your calling!
Who says fitness is limited to the gym? Take it from our expert graphic designer, Sakshi who believes that dog walking is the key to her fitness journey. She says “working out helps release stress hormones. I love working out whether it’s yoga or strength & conditioning. It comforts my mind but I think my dog, Bolt is key factor to my fitness journey. I’ve been taking him on walks for 10 years and it couldn’t get any better. Spending time with him gives me genuine happiness and if it’s keeping both of us healthy and fit, then why not?” Amen Sakshi! For people who don’t really feel the need to hit the gym, get your pooch out and paint the town.
Some believe that only the brave and the bold can endure strength training. Strength training has usually been marketed as a masculine exercise, but that’s not true especially for our social media specialist Shraddhaa who has been a gym bug for 4 years now. Believe us she doesn’t conform to what men and women are limited to at the gym. “Over the years, I figured out that the Indian society has prescribed a narrow image of what a ‘perfect girl’ should look like. She should be strong enough to give birth, but to lift a 60 kilo tyre, would be unladylike of her. I choose to not be confined to this stereotype, and I believe that no girl should be. Strength training puts me in a good headspace, seeing my performance improve over time motivates me, and it’s my favourite form of me-time.’’Lifting weights can help you work your joints through a full range of motion, keeping them strong and flexible and keeping you steady on your feet!
